Where Christ is Exalted!

Ministries

Ministries of FBC of Union

Sunday School
Every Sunday morning from 9:15am-10:15am we welcome you to come and participate in an hour of Bible Study and practical application of God’s Word to our daily lives. You will be challenged to a greater commitment in your relationship with Jesus Christ as we study God’s Word together. You will build stronger relationships through our small group time as we seek to serve and minister to one another. Bible Study is vital to the spiritual growth of the Christian and in reaching the lost. The Word of God is how God communicates Himself and His will to man.  It is in God’s Word that we find man’s greatest need, to be saved from the penalty of sin and be reconciled to God through repentance and faith alone in the substitutionary sacrifice for our sin by His Son, Jesus Christ.  As we rightly interpret and apply God’s Word to our lives we will grow more into the image of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Come and enjoy the rich blessings of studying God’s Word and allow Him to change and transform your life. (Classes available for all age groups)

Sunday Morning Worship Service
Every Sunday from 10:30am-12:00pm we gather together to worship the Lord through God-centered and Biblically based music and preaching. This is a time where we come in humility before God and offer our sacrifices of praise and submission to the practical instruction from His Word. Our worship service consists of a blend of contemporary and traditional music. We welcome you to come and join in this time of exalting our great God and Savior.

Sunday Evening Worship Service
Every Sunday Evening from 6:00pm-7:00pm we have a time of worship and equipping for believers to do the work of the ministry. This is a time in which believers will be trained in evangelism, discipleship, and other areas of service to be effective ministers for our Lord and Savior. Every Born-again believer is in full time ministry. This time is to help equip the saints to be faithful in their service to our Lord and Savior.

Faith Bible Institute
Every Monday night beginning in August and ending in December then starting again in January and ending in May we offer a 3 year In-depth, verse by verse Bible Study covering every book of the Bible and every major doctrine. This exciting comprehensive study will help you to get grounded on God’s Word, mature in your faith and develop a greater love for God and a passion for His holiness. This class begins at 6:00 p.m. and ends at 9:00 p.m. There are 3 different classes on video each night: Old Testament, New Testament, and a Major Doctrine.   There is a ten minute break between each class with refreshments and fellowship. Also there is free babysitting available for those with children. Don’t miss out on this exciting opportunity to learn and understand God’s Word and apply it to your daily life. You can join this study at any semester break. If you would like further information please contact the church office.

Missions
The Lord has called all believers to go into all the world and preach the gospel and make disciples. We seek to emphasize the importance of missions in our local church and in all the world. We provide all kinds of missions opportunities to reach the lost in our community, throughout our country and around the world. We then seek to disciple new believers to spiritual maturity through one to one or small group discipleship. We support missions through giving to the Southern Baptist Cooperative Program and through supporting missionaries personally through financial giving, prayer and physical support. We seek to inform and motivate believers to get more involved in fulfilling Our Lord’s great commission.

AWANA
Awana is an acrostic which stands for “Approved Workman Are Not Ashamed” which is taken from II Timothy 2:15. It is a youth club designed for 3 year olds through 6th grade. Awana meets on a weekly basis from September thru April on Wednesday evenings from 6:15-8:00 p.m. In the Awana club the youth learn the importance of loving, learning, memorizing, and obeying God and His Word. They learn of their need for a relationship with God and His salvation from sin offered through repentance of sin and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as their sin bearer and Lord. They learn how to grow in their relationship with God by applying God’s Word to their everyday lives, circumstances, and relationships. It is also a time where they make new friends, compete in exciting games, and receive rewards in a Christ-centered atmosphere. Your children will have a great time as they learn God’s Word and participate in various fun activities. Don’t miss out!!

Men’s Bible Study
This men’s ministry meets once a month on the third Saturday at 8:00am for breakfast, fellowship, Bible Study and prayer. This ministry seeks to equip men to be leaders in the home and in the church, and be men of integrity and Christ-like character. We seek to provide an environment of biblically based encouragement, friendships, accountability, and support. Be the man that God has called you to be and come join this great time of spiritual challenge.

Senior Adult Ministry
Our Senior Adult’s group is an active bunch. They meet monthly for a planned activity led by the Senior Adult Council. They have special occasions when they invite local music groups, community speakers, and other Senior organizations for a time of Christ-centered fun and fellowship. They have enjoyed many day trips to interesting places, including the St. Louis Area. They seek to serve the Lord and grow in their relationship to Him through Bible Study, personal accountability, and various ministries. Won’t you come and be a part of this exciting ministry?

Music Ministry
The music ministry of First Baptist Church is a ministry used to help us realize our vision of glorifying God, exalting Christ the Son and honoring the Holy Spirit through music. We use the great old hymns as well as contemporary music in a blended style worship service. Music is a vital part of our worship of God. It helps to lead God’s people into a worshipful attitude according to God’s principles through songs of praise, adoration, and worship.  We have a place for you! You can join our adult choir by coming to rehearsal and enrolling in the choir. We’d love to have you. Come and join us!

Adult Choir- The Adult Choir meets each Sunday evening from 5:30-6:30 p.m. They sing every Sunday in the 10:45 a.m. worship service. The Adult Choir will present two or three major musicals each year. The choir is open to interested adults age 16 or over.

Youth Ministry
The youth ministry at FBC of Union meets every Sunday morning for Bible Study from 9:30-10:30 a.m. and Wednesday night from 6:00-8:00 p.m. for a time of Bible study, worship, prayer, and games. Our goal is to lead teens to a personal relationship with God through repentance and faith in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and help them grow in their knowledge of and obedience to God’s Word, so that they may become more like Jesus Christ and glorify God in all their thoughts, attitudes, actions, and words. The youth ministry at FBC of Union seeks to provide the youth with a God-centered biblical worldview so that they may be thoroughly equipped for life and service.

Usually twice a month there are special activities planned for teens to get together for a time of outreach, fellowship, and recreation. Some of these types of activities would include gym nights, concerts, retreats, sports games, skiing, and etc.

Every aspect of the ministry at FBC of Union seeks to focus on the essentials of evangelism, discipleship, fellowship, worship, and service. These essentials are the basis for a God-honoring ministry. We invite you to come and be apart of what God is doing here in the ministry at FBC of Union.
