Where Christ is Exalted!

Gospel Presentation

Gospel Presentation
1.     God
a.     He is Creator and Owner - Gen. 1:1; Col.1:15-16
b.    He is Holy (Morally pure and perfect) - Lev.19:2; 1 Pet.1:15
c.     He is Just - Deut. 32:4
Transition- Because God is holy, He cannot and will not allow sin into heaven. And because He is just, He must punish sin. That is bad news for man.
2.     Man
a.     He is a sinner by nature and choice - Rom. 5:12; Ps. 51:5; Rom.3:23; Isa.53:6; Jer.17:9. Sin is lawlessness and rebellion against God and His holy law. Man falls short of God’s perfect righteous standard which is necessary for a relationship with God and to be with God in heaven. Sin is not just the things we do against God but also what we don’t do which His Word commands us. God is the standard and not other people.
b.    The penalty for man’s sin is physical, spiritual, and eternal death (separation from God). These are the wages of sin (what we have earned). God’s justice demands that sin be punished - Rom.6:23; Isa. 59:2
c.      Man cannot do anything to save himself from God’s just demands for sin. There is nothing man can do to make himself acceptable to God and remove the guilt of his sin - Eph.2:8-9; Titus 3:5; Gal.3:21-24 (Use Grand Canyon Illustration)
Transition- Since there was no way for man to get to God, God came to us.
3.     Jesus Christ
a.     Fully God and perfect, sinless man. God loves us and sent His one and only Son to provide the way of salvation from sin - Jn.1:1,14Rom.5:8; Jn.3:3,16
b.    He is our sin-bearer. Jesus took our place and became our substitute. He bore the punishment for our sin that we deserved on Himself on the cross. Jesus suffered God’s wrath against our sin and His perfect shed blood satisfied God’s just demands against our sin so that the barrier of sin may be removed and we can have the opportunity to be forgiven and reconciled with God - 2 Cor.5:21; 1 Cor.15:3-4 (Ill.- Cancer)
c.     He reconciles us with God. Jesus did not stay in the grave but 3 days later He rose again proving who He claimed to be and proving that His sacrifice for sin was acceptable to God. Through Jesus’ death and resurrection sinful man can now be reconciled with a holy God - 1 Pet.3:18; Col.1:20-21
Transition- So biblically what are our options?
4.     God’s Options
a.     One way and one remedy for man’s sinful condition - Acts 4:12; Jn.14:6
b.    Forgiveness for sin and eternal life - Jn. 5:24; Eph.1:7
c.     Rejection and judgment - 2 Thess.1:7b-8; Rev. 20:15
Transition- Jesus said, ‘you must be born again’. He was implying as we have already seen that we are all born spiritually dead (no relationship with God). So how can you receive this spiritual life (relationship with God) and be born into the family of God?
5.     My Response
a.     Admit to God that you are a sinner and spiritually bankrupt. Repent of sin (turn from sin in your heart and turn to Jesus as Savior and Lord) - Acts 3:19; 2 Cor.7:10
b.    Transfer trust from your own self righteous efforts to earn heaven to Jesus Christ and Him alone to save you from your sin. You must come in humility and desperation realizing you cannot save yourself and trust in Christ alone to save you. Nothing but the blood of Jesus can remove the barrier of sin that separates us from God and keeps us out of heaven - Rom.10:1-4; Gal.2:16 (Ill- Chair)
c.     Receive Jesus as Lord and Savior by believing that He died in your place and paid the price for your sin by His death and resurrection. Salvation is a free gift that is simply received by faith, it cannot be earned or deserved - Jn.1:12; Rom.10:9-10, 13 (Ill.- Gift)
Is there anything keeping you right now from trusting in Jesus Christ alone to save you from your sin and making Him Lord of your life?
Sinner’s Prayer
(It is not the prayer that saves you but your personal trust in Christ and His sacrifice for your sin)
Jesus, I know that I am a sinner. I confess that I have rebelled against You and broken Your laws. I deserve to die and be separated from You forever. I realize that there is nothing I can do to save myself or take away my sin. But I believe that Jesus died for my sin in my place and rose again. And I turn right now from my sin and turn to you and place my trust in Jesus and Him alone to pay the debt of my sin and save me. Thank you for saving me. Help me now to daily live for You, serve You, and seek to please You in everything I think, say, and do. Amen
Transition- You may be asking, ‘what do I do now?’ I am glad you asked. It is important now to grow in your new relationship with God. Here is how:
6.     Grow
a.     Read God’s Word Daily - 1 Pet.2:2; 2 Pet.3:18
b.    Pray (talk to God) - Phil.4:6-7
c.     Love and obey God - Jn.14:15
d.    Attend and worship and be accountable to a Bible believing and teaching church - Heb.10:24-25
e.     Witness (tell others what God has done for you) - Matt.28:18-20
